Facility History

Torrance Community Television doors were opened to the public June 3, 1988, with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The Telecommunications Center is home to the Communications Division (CitiCABLE and Torrance Community Television) and the General Services Department including the Cultural Arts Center Administrative Offices. The Telecommunications Center features two studios, eight edit suites, classroom area, conference rooms, viewing rooms and administrative offices. It is adjacent to the beautiful James Armstrong Theatre, Toyota Meeting Hall, George Nakano Theatre, Torino Festival Plaza, Ken Miller Recreation Center, Torrance Art Museum and Pine Wind Garden.

Stanley E. Remelmeyer Telecommunications Center

Construction was completed in 1987 on the 15,000-square-foot facility. The Center was dedicated by the City Council for use by the Communications Division on Oct. 17.

Production Control Room

The Torrance Community Television Production Control Room is equipped Tricaster switcher, Adobe Creative Cloud, Avid Pro Tools, Presonus Digital mixer, CCU’s and Wireless talk-back system.

Production Studio

The Torrance Community Television Studio is available for certified TCtv Producers Tuesday through Friday, 2 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 10 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The studio is equipped with three JVC High-Definition cameras on pedestals, lighting grid with lighting board, cyclorama green screen backdrop with flooring, studio video monitoring, audio snake, property storage area that houses flats and carpeting for sets. In addition, we have a teleprompter, camera jib and audio floor monitors.

Meeting & Classroom Area

Used for Producing for Television and Field and Post-Production Workshops; and occasional monthly producer get-togethers, as well as for departmental conference space.
